Serving in the Peten Jungle of Guaremala for 27 days, challenging yet so rewarding! John 16:33 states (Teddy version) "Life will be jacked up, but take heart. Jesus came to bring us peace."
Everday was a new adventure, from driving a bus with 120 kids in 100 degree weather up a winding, mountainous road to killing scorpions in our room at night, to ministering in many schools, hospitals and retirement centers. Hearts in Action is a faith based, Chrstian organization ministering and serving in the heart of the jungle. They provide, through partners, academic & school supplies, transportation, athletic & music classes, lunch, & school uniforms to over 300 students 5 days per week and pay the staff and faculty to teach all the classes. Not only do they touch the lives at the Ranch de Los Niños (Ranch of the Kids), they also provide jobs for the community and share the love of Jesus, providing meals and clothing to the community. To be apart of this as a family had its difficult times. However, I believe our hearts were being branded for future ministry opportunities. I can minister many places but collectively with my family we reach so many more. We had four goals: 1. Serve our hosts. 2. Develop our ministry gifts. 3. Day to day life. 4. Cultural immersion. All the family was able to experience, serve together and see each goal in operation in our lives. What a tremendous opportunity! many more to come...
